Privacy Policy

1. Overview

GovCon Tracker ("we," "our," or "us") is a Google Sheets™ add-on that provides access to publicly available government contracting data from SAM.gov. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and how we protect it.

By installing or using GovCon Tracker, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy.

2. Information We Collect

Information You Provide

• Your email address when you contact support
• Your Google account email, obtained via OAuth, for license verification purposes

Information We Do NOT Collect

• The contents of your Google Sheets™ spreadsheets
• Your browsing history or activity outside the add-on
• Device identifiers or IP addresses beyond what is standard in server logs
• Any For Official Use Only (FOUO) data from SAM.gov
• Financial account numbers or payment card details

Automatically Collected Information

When you use GovCon Tracker, our backend service receives standard server logs including request timestamps and general usage patterns. These logs are used solely for system reliability and debugging. They are not linked to individual identities and are retained for no more than 30 days.

3. Google OAuth Permissions

GovCon Tracker requests the following Google OAuth scopes:

• Spreadsheets access — limited to the spreadsheet where the add-on is installed, used to read and write data to your sheets
• UI display — required to render the sidebar and dialog panels inside Google Sheets™
• External HTTP requests — required to communicate with the GovCon Tracker backend to fetch SAM.gov data
• Email address — used solely to verify your license status and identify your account

We do not access, read, or store any other Google data beyond these scopes.

4. How We Use Your Information

• To deliver the GovCon Tracker service and process your data requests
• To verify your subscription or trial status via the Google Workspace™ Marketplace licensing API
• To respond to support inquiries
• To send critical service notifications (e.g., SAM.gov registration expiry alerts you have configured)

We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to operating the service.

5. SAM.gov Data

All government contracting data displayed in GovCon Tracker is sourced from SAM.gov (System for Award Management), operated by the U.S. General Services Administration. This data is publicly available under federal open data policy.

We do not collect, store, or transmit any SAM.gov data designated as For Official Use Only (FOUO) or sensitive. Entity point-of-contact email addresses, which SAM.gov classifies as FOUO, are never retrieved or displayed.

Cached data is stored in Google Cloud Firestore within the United States and is subject to Google's security standards.

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share data only in the following limited circumstances:

• Google LLC — for authentication and licensing via Google Workspace™ Marketplace
• Google Cloud Platform — our backend infrastructure provider
• Legal compliance — if required by law, court order, or to protect our rights

7. Data Retention

• License records — retained for 90 days following subscription cancellation
• Support emails — retained until you request deletion
• Server logs — retained for 30 days, then automatically purged
• Cached SAM.gov data — refreshed on the schedules described in our documentation (1–48 hours depending on data type)

8. Security

We use Google Cloud infrastructure with industry-standard security controls including encryption at rest and in transit. Access to backend systems is restricted to authorized personnel only. No system is completely secure, and we encourage you to contact us immediately at nealm682@gmail.com if you believe your account has been compromised.

9. Your Rights

You may request at any time:

• Access — a copy of any personal data we hold about you
• Deletion — removal of your personal data from our systems
• Correction — updates to inaccurate information
• Opt-out — of non-essential communications

10. Children's Privacy

GovCon Tracker is intended for use by business professionals and is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by an updated "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of GovCon Tracker after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
